Sister Summayah
Game4Peace Co-Founder & Co-Executive Director Sister Summayah grew up in a strict Catholic household, where attending Mass every Sunday was a tradition. As a young girl, she sang in the youth choir and participated in the recitation of traditional poems, an important art form for Catholics during harvest festivities. As a teenager, she played an active role in facilitating youth programs with the nuns while attending a Catholic high school.
In 1999, Sister Summayah embraced Islam in Brooklyn, New York. She has since become a distinguished educator with over 23 years of experience across various educational environments, including public and private schools, after-school programs, and summer camps. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Adult Education and Training, and is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Higher Education Administration.
Beyond the classroom, Sister Summayah is a talented writer, having authored and self-published two children’s books. She also writes short skits and has a deep appreciation for theater and the dramatic arts.
Over the past two decades, Sister Summayah has been deeply committed to community service, with a strong history of engagement and outreach in both New Jersey and Florida. She has initiated and executed numerous successful community projects and has been recognized by organizations such as ICNA Relief and The Garden of the Sahaba Academy for her outstanding contributions to community development, youth empowerment, education, and homelessness advocacy.
As an educator, author, lifelong learner, and advocate for education, women, children, and homelessness, Sister Summayah continues to be a beacon of inspiration in her community and beyond.
