Game 4 P.E.A.C.E Recognizes Our Team Member on Veterans Day 2024: LaCedric “Saddiq” Johnson – A Journey of Determination, Empowerment, and Healing By New Correspondent Gabrielle Nicole

On this Veterans Day, Game 4 P.E.A.C.E honors one of its exceptional alumni, LaCedric “Saddiq” Johnson. Saddiq’s journey exemplifies resilience, empowerment, and a deep commitment to uplifting others, qualities that align with the values of Game 4 P.E.A.C.E. His story is a testament to the transformative power of personal growth, community engagement, and the pursuit of social justice.
From Tragedy to Triumph
Born in San Francisco, California, Saddiq’s early life was deeply influenced by the cultural revolution of the late 1960s and 1970s, shaped by the Black Panther movement and the empowering sounds of artists like James Brown, Marvin Gaye, and Curtis Mayfield. However, tragedy struck in 1977 when Saddiq’s father was murdered, forcing him to grow up quickly and navigate the harsh realities of life on the streets of San Francisco. Despite these challenges, Saddiq emerged with a fierce determination to rise above adversity and make a meaningful impact.
His belief in the power of education and social justice fueled his determination to challenge systemic issues, including the school-to-prison pipeline and the whitewashing of history in public schools. Saddiq’s advocacy for community empowerment and his pursuit of knowledge have made him a leader in his field.
A Military Career and Entrepreneurial Success
After high school, Saddiq enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served as an aeronautical engineer. His time in the military, though brief, instilled in him the discipline and resilience that would be crucial to his success in civilian life. Saddiq’s transition from the military to civilian life saw him channel his energy into mastering day trading, specifically in the FOREX market, becoming a successful entrepreneur along the way.
Saddiq’s journey is a powerful example of the Game 4 P.E.A.C.E ethos: “the game is to elevate your personal skills to elevate your life.” Through hard work, self-discipline, and perseverance, he has not only built a successful career but also helped others unlock their potential.
Empowering Through Art: Supporting Veterans and Incarcerated Service Members
In line with the mission of Game 4 P.E.A.C.E, Saddiq is also committed to giving back to those who need it most, including incarcerated veterans who face unique challenges upon their return from military service. Veterans, particularly those who are incarcerated, often deal with the mental health ramifications of PTSD, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and substance abuse issues. Programs that focus on rehabilitation, rather than punishment, can provide the support necessary for veterans to heal and reintegrate into society.
The initiative “The Exploration of Reality Through Art” highlights the role of creative expression in helping incarcerated veterans process their trauma and find healing. Through art therapy, storytelling, and workshops, veterans can share their experiences, build empathy, and engage in their own recovery. Art provides these veterans with a powerful outlet for their experiences, offering them the chance to reintegrate into their communities and gain a sense of belonging.
Key components of this initiative include:
- Mission Canvas Workshops – Empowering veterans, families, and caregivers through immersive art sessions.
- Honor Bound Galleries – Exhibitions of veteran-created art that foster understanding between military and civilian communities.
- Warrior Words Storytelling Sessions – Monthly events that allow veterans to share their narratives, encouraging connection and resilience.
- Fortress of Art Summit – An annual gathering of veterans, artists, and community leaders to explore art’s role in healing.
These programs, designed to bridge the gap between military and civilian life, underscore the importance of resilience and healing for veterans. Saddiq’s own life story echoes the core message of these initiatives: that healing, growth, and success are not only possible but can lead to profound change in both individual lives and communities.
A Call to Action: Honoring Veterans Through Healing
Saddiq’s journey, paired with the support for incarcerated veterans through creative arts, calls us to action. By offering veterans access to specialized support systems—such as mental health care, vocational training, and art-based therapy—we can help reduce recidivism, improve reentry success, and honor their sacrifices in meaningful ways. Saddiq’s work, both as a successful entrepreneur and an advocate for incarcerated veterans, proves that resilience and empowerment can drive social change.
Currently Incarcerated, But Going Home Soon
At present, Saddiq is incarcerated at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, where he continues to contribute to his community of inmates. His ongoing commitment to personal development and empowerment resonates deeply within the prison system, where he actively supports other incarcerated individuals in their journey of healing and reintegration. Saddiq’s influence reaches beyond himself; he is helping to foster a culture of growth, resilience, and hope among the men around him. His efforts to uplift others while facing his own challenges underscore the power of redemption and the impact one individual can have.
With less than three months left until his release, Saddiq is poised to return to society, ready to continue his mission of empowerment and healing. Game 4 P.E.A.C.E recognizes his unwavering strength and dedication, and we take this opportunity to give him his flowers while he is living. We salute
Saddiq not only for his achievements but for his continued impact on the lives of those around him, both inside and outside of San Quentin.
On this Veterans Day, Game 4 P.E.A.C.E honors LaCedric “Saddiq” Johnson, not only for his achievements but also for his dedication to uplifting others. Whether through the disciplined world of day trading or the healing power of art, Saddiq’s life exemplifies the spirit of resilience, community, and personal transformation that drives the mission of Game 4 P.E.A.C.E.
