Walter Burns
Game 4 P.E.A.C.E Alumnus Walter Burns aka The Rated R aka Runner from Tupac Shakur’s first rap group Thug Life whose first album Thug Life Volume 1 went multi platinum world wide was born in South Central Los Angeles. Growing up in the heart of South Central Los Angeles, he was often caught between the streets and the call for social justice. He saw the raw tension and tight alliances firsthand. This mix created a unique social fabric where streetwise youth and community members mingled, reflecting a complex blend of identities and dreams. The clash and coexistence of these worlds shaped a dynamic social landscape, intersecting despite their different missions and values.
The Rated R’s life evolved when he landed in the California prison system, but it didn’t break him, it made him wise up. Instead, he found his Godly purpose. He changed his behavior and his mentality into Game 4 P.E.A.C.E. G4P is dedicated to empowering at-risk youth, domestic violence survivors, battered women, ex gang members, gang members, incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people, the drug and alcohol addicted and other system-impacted individuals. Game 4 P.E.A.C.E uses entertainment, education, and information to dive into cognitive disorders, trauma, mental health, empathy accountability, compassion, education, remorse, rehabilitation and reform. The Rated R transformed from street life to being a beacon of hope and change.
The Rated R’s story is raw, real, and powerful. He’s not just talking about peace; he’s living it as a peacemaker, advocating for it, and fighting for it every day. His journey from the streets to becoming a symbol of transformation shows us all that change is possible, no matter where you start. The Rated R reminds us that with determination and purpose, we can overcome our circumstances and make a lasting impact on our communities. As a person of redemption who believes that our amends should be everyday forever through humanitarian philanthropy, community service and restorative justice. One mistake or one bad action doesn’t define who you are for the rest of your life. Keep pushing, keep believing, and never stop fighting for a better tomorrow. People deserve a second chance, sometimes even more than a second chance. It takes a village.
